This README file contains last-minute information and known issues with the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh™ Scenery Add-on for Microsoft® Flight Simulator 2002.
Important: This product is for entertainment purposes only and shall not be used for training purposes. It is not part of an approved training program under the standards of the FAA or any other regulatory agency.

For one week each year, EAA AirVenture Oshkosh has the highest concentration of aircraft in the world. Pilots flying to and from Wittman Regional Airport (KOSH) in Oshkosh, Wisconsin must follow specialized procedures explained in a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) published by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The Flights in this category give you an opportunity to try the arrival procedures yourself and to be a part of the show.

1. Acknowledgements
The Flight Simulator team at Microsoft would like to thank the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) for their support and assistance in the creation of this add-on. Without the help of their staff (in particular, Photography and Imaging Director Jim Koepnick) in obtaining source material this add-on would not have been possible.

2. Getting the Most from This Add-on
After successfully installing the add-on you can take advantage of the scenic enhancements and join the crowd at Oshkosh during AirVenture. You can either create a flight that starts you on the runway at Wittman Regional Airport (KOSH) or use one of the prepared flights.
To create a flight:
1.    On the main screen in Flight Simulator, click Create a Flight and then click Change under the Current Location section.
2.    In the Go To Airport dialog box, enter “KOSH” in the Airport ID text box, then click the OK button.
3.    After returning to the Create a Flight screen, click the Fly Now! button.
To select a prepared flight:
1.    On the main screen in Flight Simulator, click Select a Flight, scroll down in the Choose a category list, and select EAA AirVenture Oshkosh.
2.    Select one of the flights listed in the Choose a flight list. A description of the flight is shown in the Flight description text box.
3.    After selecting a flight, click the Fly Now! button.

The EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Scenery Add-On was designed to approximate the look of Wittman Regional Airport during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh. The add-on includes a large number of custom-designed, 3-D objects and very dense autogen scenery. If the scenery around Oshkosh seems sparse, increase your Scenery Complexity and Autogen Density using the Display dialog box. To change your scenery settings:
1.    On the main screen in Flight Simulator, click Settings and then click Display.
2.    In the Display dialog box, drag the Scenery Complexity slider to the right for more detail.
3.    Drag the Autogen Density slider to the right for denser autogen scenery.
If you’re already flying in Flight Simulator, you can change these options by pressing the ALT key to display the menu, clicking Options, pointing to Settings, and then clicking Display.
Note: Higher scenery density and complexity may affect system performance. If you notice a decrease in performance, experiment with the settings to get the balance you prefer between graphics and performance.

3. Known Issues
The EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Scenery Add-On is not supported by Microsoft Product Support Services. However, listed below are several known issues of which you should be aware.
3.1 Railroad Tracks
The arrival procedures specified in the NOTAM instruct pilots to follow railroad tracks from the town of Ripon to Oshkosh. Flight Simulator 2002 does not support displaying detailed railroad track textures so we have used a dirt road texture instead. You should be able to distinguish the dark brown lines easily from the air and follow them to Wittman Regional Airport.
3.2 Taxiway Visuals
To better represent the airport environment, the normal Flight Simulator taxiway visuals (including pavement, lines, and lights) have been removed. Instead, real taxiways can be seen on the ground, thanks to the aerial photo.
3.3 Air Traffic Control
The Air Traffic Control in functionality Flight Simulator 2002 at Wittman Regional Airport does not reflect the special operational procedures normally in place during AirVenture. You may find it helpful to disable ATC while using the add-on.
3.4 AI Traffic
There is no additional AI traffic beyond that normally flying to or from Oshkosh in Flight Simulator 2002. AI traffic may appear to taxi across grass areas on its way to and from parking spots.
3.5 Pioneer Airport
To accommodate differences in data, the grass runway at Pioneer Airport in Flight Simulator 2002 has been removed in favor of the aerial photo texture. If you use the Go to Airport dialog box to start on the runway at Pioneer Airport, you will be placed roughly half of a mile north of the actual runway shown in the aerial photo.
