Boeing 757-225
Mexico purchased and operated since 1987 a Boeing 757-225 as presidential aircraft, this Boeing 757 was originally built for Eastern Air Lines but was never received, it was sent to Texas for conversion to private aircraft.
It was operated by the “Estado Mayor Presidencial” which was the former security corps of the president of Mexico through the “Grupo Aereo de Transportes Presidenciales”.
The Boeing 757 was registered as TP-01 with the name “Presidente Juarez” in honor of former Mexican President Benito Juarez Garcia.
It was replaced by the new Boeing 787 purchased by the Mexican government, so it was changed to registration “TP-02” as the presidential backup aircraft or for domestic routes at airports where the Boeing 787 could not operate due to its size.
The presidential fleet was sold by former Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador for “political reasons” and “luxury use in the Mexican government” in 2016, the Boeing 757 was purchased by Cargojet Airways, which is expected to transform it into a cargo aircraft.
Mexico currently has a Gulfstream V FAM3910 as presidential aircraft by the “Unidad Especial de Transporte Aéreo del Alto Mando (UETAAM)”.
